1980s Indian scooter street portrait

Put me in a quiet Indian residential lane in 1986, standing beside a scooter on its side stand with one hand resting on the handlebar, body angled toward camera, relaxed half-smile. Mid-80s hair with crown volume and soft curls, slightly disturbed by the breeze, a teal cotton saree worn simply, medium hoop earrings, a few bangles, a small handbag hooked over my forearm and simple sandals. The scooter is a 1980s Indian step-through: a rounded pressed-steel monocoque body with a flat front apron, a single round headlamp mounted in the handlebar cowl, small wheels, a side-mounted spare wheel behind the left leg shield, a long single seat and a rear-view mirror on one side only. It must not look like a modern plastic-bodied scooter — no body-coloured plastic panels, no LED lamps, no digital display, no large alloy wheels. Behind me a low compound wall with a gate, bougainvillea spilling over it and a neem tree. Mid-morning sun from the right, warm and directional, hard shadows on the lane and along the scooter body, and a bright specular streak along the top of the front apron. 35mm film, 1986: grain, warm faded colour, cyan shadows, a small red-orange date stamp lower right.
