1986 Indian birthday party snapshot

Use my uploaded photo. Count the people in it and render exactly that many — no more, no fewer. Anchor each face to its counterpart by left-to-right order. Do not merge, average, swap or blend any two identities. Keep each face exactly as it is — same features, skin tone and natural asymmetry — and keep every person's visible age exactly as it appears: do not make an adult look like a child or a child look older. Paper hats may be worn but must not cover any part of any face. No slimming, lightening or smoothing. Change only hair, clothes, pose and surroundings. Put us at an Indian home birthday party in 1986, crowded around a table pushed against a wall, everyone leaning in toward the cake, one person mid-clap and the birthday person poised to blow out the candles. Neatly done 1986 party styling for each age — oiled and combed on the children, crown volume on the adults, a ribbon on one. New party clothes in pink, yellow and white: a stiff frock with a sash, a pressed shirt tucked into shorts, a printed saree or salwar kameez on the adults, and conical paper party hats with elastic chin straps worn pushed back off the forehead. On the table a cream-frosted cake with piped rosettes and lit candles, paper plates, glass bottles of orange soft drink with paper straws and a packet of wafers. Behind us crepe paper streamers taped in loops across the wall, a hand-lettered paper banner whose text is not legible, a balloon or two and a textured distemper wall. Two light sources: a hard direct on-camera flash fired from a few feet away, flat-lighting every face, over-exposing the nearest shoulder and the cake frosting and throwing a hard compact shadow behind each head onto the wall; and the small warm glow of the lit candles from below, just visible on the undersides of the nearest chins and on the cake, with steep falloff into darkness at the frame edges. 35mm film indoors with flash, 1986: grain, warm-yellow cast, halation around the candle flames, faded colour, lifted blacks.
