Why this works
The "ask one question, wait, react, don't answer for the user" turn-taking rule stops the common failure mode where interview roleplay collapses into the AI listing ten questions at once or answering on your behalf. Giving the persona exactly one planned, explicit exit point — structured feedback at the very end — is safer than leaving the character/coach boundary ambiguous: the model gets one clear moment to drop the persona and deliver the coaching value you actually came for, instead of randomly breaking character mid-scenario or never giving feedback at all.
